August, 2002 in the Queens neighborhood in New York City to Jamaican
immigrants. Sharpe was born in Queens' Springfield Gardens, and later moved to
Cedarhurst on Long Island. At a young age, Sharpe had aspirations of being in
the NBA, but around 12 years of age, he turned his attention to pursuing a
career in music. Sharpe attended Lawrence High School. Tecca was nine years of
age when he began to rap over his Xbox. They would occasionally make a mockery
of one another. One of the tracks was uploaded to SoundCloud some time ago, but
it has since been removed. At first, he didn't have intentions to start an
aspiring career in music, but instead dreamed of becoming an NBA star. However,
as he entered his middle school years, he resigned himself to basketball and
started to take the music seriously. His debut single, "Tectri",
which was a hit in early 2017 was made in collaboration with and released by
Lil Gummybear. The other tracks that he had in the beginning include "Callin".
The following year, Tecca's career began to grow with his hit single
"Ransom" and was released on Cole Bennett's Lyrical Lemonade YouTube
channel on May 22 in 2019. The song climbed to number 4 on the Billboard Hot
100 chart. The song has received over 900 million Spotify plays and more than
300 million YouTube views.
